This Thanksgiving, we were thankful for a great idea from marysmeals.org: take a post-turkey stroll and feed kids in poverty. By signing up and paying a small registration fee, we participated in Mary’s Meals’ virtual Turkey Trot—which just meant anyone, anywhere could simply take a stroll or jog around the neighborhood. And with a generous matching donor involved, each walker, hiker or runner raised enough to feed 3 kids in some of the world’s most impoverished countries for the entire year. As Saint Augustine said, ‘Walking by faith, let us do good works.” We’re pretty sure the walking helped fight off the tryptophan and the feeding of children counted as the good work.
